Joseph Misanin is the founder and CEO of Misanin Technology Ventures, LLC, a firm that specializes in developing innovative business solutions for companies wanting to establish or improve their competitive posture in the Defense Industrial base. He has a personal passion for assisting small businesses and individuals wishing to start a business. Mr. Misanin has over 3 decades of experience in Federal service, encompassing a spectrum of competencies in policy, legislation, organizational design, operations, requirements, military systems, Defense organizations, budget/finance, contracting, engineering, and the Defense Acquisition System.

As the Deputy Director of Technology and Innovation at the Department of Defense Office of Small Business Programs, he was the senior executive in the Department responsible for the Small Business Innovation Research, Small Business Technology Transfer, Mentor-Protégé, and Indian Incentive programs. Mr. Misanin also served in a number of program management and engineering positions at the Department of the Navy, including his assignment as the Deputy Major Program Manager for the Command and Control Directorate, Program Executive Office (Integrated Warfare Systems), where he managed a portfolio of programs, including an ACAT 1D program.

Mr. Misanin’s expertise in Defense Acquisition encompasses a variety of warfare systems including missiles, gun fire control, radar, electro-optics, navigation, display/processing, sensor netting, and related technologies. He has managed both domestic and international programs, with assignments at the Naval Warfare Center/China Lake, Applied Physics Laboratory/Johns Hopkins University, Naval Ship Weapon Systems Engineering Station/Port Hueneme, the Naval Sea Systems Command, and numerous Program Executive Offices.

Mr. Misanin holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester, a Master of Engineering Administration from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Office of the Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service medal, the Secretary of Defense Excellence Award, and the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service medal.
